Herefordshire is the county that has it all, yet goes gently under the radar. Extraordinary landscapes await to be discovered by bike, by foot, or from the air; the local pubs and restaurants serve world-class food and drink; then, passing quietly through the county, runs the Wye River where you can take a lazy boat trip or swim wild and free alongside the birds and fish.

When you stay at Kaya, all of this is on your doorstep. Put one foot in front of the other and in a little while you will be on the famous Cat's Back Ridge, part of the Black Mountains. Go further still and you will reach Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons). You can drive to wild swimming spots from us easily as well as visit towns full of character: Hereford and Hay-on-Wye.

Eat at The Bull's Head - a Michelin Guide pub
Swap stories whilst enjoying some of the best food in the county. We are a 10-minute drive from a Michelin Guide pub, The Bull's Head. Or instead, how about something a little bohemian? Under the Nut Tree is a spirited pub with memory-making food. We recommend its fire-cooked supper club for a weekend dinner amidst the rose gardens gathered around an open flame. For more places to eat in Herefordshire, just ask.
Make your own gin or visit the world's first
book town
Down the road, you will find an award-winning gin distillery, Black Mountain Botanicals. Spend the afternoon making your own to take home.
Afterwards, head to one of the local villages or towns that make this part of the world special, such as Hay-on-Wye, famed for its bookshops and festival.

Hike the famous Cat's Back or canoe down the River Wye
Lace up your walking boots. Open the Strava guide we give you and set off for the mountains. The Cat's Back Ridge is the first you will come to; from the summit you can almost touch the sky.
If water is your element, it is a stone's throw to water-based adventure on the River Wye, an area of outstanding national beauty. We have great local connections that can help you enjoy it, like the fabulous team at Wye Valley Canoes. ​

Star gazing - we are on the edge of a Dark Skies Reserve
We are on the edge of one of the UK's seven Dark Sky Reserves. Which means the stargazing here is unlike anything you've seen before. Our yurt cabins both have 'crowns' (a large circular window in the roof), so you can watch the universe from your bed. You might also choose to lounge in Pumla's outdoor bath, The Nook's hot tub, or maybe the deck-net at Sky House.
Wine tasting with a BBQ thanks to our curated wine menu
You'll find a wine menu in your yurt cabin with a selection of carefully chosen wines. They are either from the local area or from pioneering black winemakers or owners in South Africa. Pair your wine with a feast: we have BBQs, wood-burning stoves with ovens and a standard cooker in both yurts. And can even help you buy local regeneratively-farmed meat.

Dawn bathing from your bed - the sun rises to meet you as you wake
Sunrises are beautiful when you stay at Kaya. The wrap-around windows in your cabin mean you don't have to move to bathe in the golden glow of the dawn. The sunrise is especially wonderful in the autumn and winter months.
